In January 2005, Catherine “Cat” DeBrosse passed away of SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). Although she was only here 15 weeks, Cat touched many lives and brought joy to all that knew her. In her memory, the Catherine DeBrosse Scholarship Fund was established at Butler University. The fund has been created to reward a deserving female student athlete who is not on scholarship, someone truly playing for the love of the game. To help build this fund, we need your support.
5th Annual Count It! For Cat breaks all records!
If you are familiar with the NCAA men's basketball tournament, than you know the tournament always ends with a video montage of the tourney and the playing of One Shining Moment:
"...And when it's done
win or lose
you always did your best
cuz inside you knew...
(that) ONE SHINING MOMENT, YOU REACHED DEEP INSIDE
ONE SHINING MOMENT, YOU KNEW YOU WERE ALIVE..."
The 2012 Count It! For Cat shooters reached very deep inside and raised more money in one event than the previous four combined! The amount is yet to be finalized, but estimates have the event bringing in over $60,000!! We can not begin to thank the 19 shooters that came out to Hinkle Fieldhouse and gave both their time and talent. And we are not done yet!
April 21st in Dayton, Ohio will mark the
first ever Count It! For Cat Dayton!
Cat's Uncle Scott and Aunt April have gathered 14 shooters and will be putting on our Dayton Count It! For Cat in Dayton, Ohio. There is still time to pledge a shooter. Click on the 2012 Dayton Shooters link to the left and pledge your shooter today!
What We Do Our team of shooters will once again head to the hardwood to raise money for Count it! For Cat. On March 31, 2012 we will be at Hinkle Fieldhouse, home of the 2010 and 2011 Men's Basketball National Champion Runners-up Butler Bulldogs. Every shooter will take 100 free throw attempts, with sponsorship dollars riding on every make. Interested in sponsoring a shooter? Here's how it works:
JJ sponsors Emily for $2.00 per shot.
Emily makes 28 out of 100 free throws.
JJ owes $56 to Count it! For Cat
Payment is made by either check (made out to Butler University) or credit card using PayPal. This will be the 5th year for Count it! For Cat and we have a big goal: to raise over $75,000 in 2012. With your support, we know we can reach this goal.

In this, our 5th year of holding Count It! For Cat, we have hit a milestone. Thanks to Cat's uncle Scott, we will have a second Count It! For Cat, this one in Ohio! More details are to come.
Emily & JJ DeBrosse receive OBS Foundation Award
Emily and I were honored late last fall as the first recipients of the Ovid Butler Society Foundation Award which personifies the Butler spirit by demonstrating leadership and generosity to Butler University. It goes without saying that we accepted the award on the behalf of the thousands of people who have donated to Cat's scholarship. Thank you to everyone!
